Question by ♥qwerty♥: How difficult is it to teach yourself how to play piano?
How hard is it to teach yourself how to play to piano?
I’m a teenager, if it matters.
Anyway, I have some time to kill this summer and thought I might take up an instrument. I used to play all through kindergarten, but I probably won’t remember anything but how to play Hot Cross Buns.
Any who, with a book or something, how hard will it be to teach myself? My brother knows a bit himself, so he might help me get started but he’s moving out this fall.

I’ve been playing for about 8 years now, and i have had piano teachers
to tutor me.
and its been SUPER fun :)
I think you have to be really devoted to teach yourself, and
you would have to do a lot of music studying.
I would really recommend getting a piano teacher tho.
good luck! :)

Question by Lauren: Is it possible to teach myself how to play piano without buying a piano?
I am 19 and I want to learn to play piano. I took lessons when I was 5-12 years old and then I stopped but now I want to try again. Now I can’t afford lessons and I can’t afford to buy a piano. Is it still possible to learn? And how could I use a piano without buying one?

What Free Piano Lessons Can Teach You About Playing the Keyboard

You can become a musical aficionado with free piano lessons online that will help you develop your keyboarding skills.

From beginner to advanced, online lessons will take you through a step-by-step program that builds on learned concepts and will help you gain an understanding of all aspects of playing the piano. Games and tutorials will make learning fun and motivate you to move through the levels for quick results. Audio and video references are often included so you can make sure that you are completing instructions accurately and performing pieces correctly. And, since online piano lessons are student-friendly, they are easy to follow and allow you to progress at your own speed, so you can master each level before moving on while also learning to play the keyboard with confidence and proficiency.

Whether you are just beginning your musical journey or are looking for an easy and affordable program to improve your skills and abilities, taking advantage of free piano lessons offered online is an ideal learning method for musicians at any level. By carefully working through each of the lessons, you will be able to learn or refresh important keys and concepts necessary for playing the piano.

1. Posture. One of the first, and most important lessons that every student learns is proper posture and positioning. How you sit at the piano and how you hold your hands and arms will affect your ability to move comfortably across the keyboard and will determine how well you will perform and how quickly you will learn.

2. Fingering. Learning where your fingers are placed on the piano and which fingers are assigned to each key is an important step in keyboard playing. Correct placement of your fingers is necessary for proper technique such as the playing of scales or the formation of chords.

3. Familiarity. Most of the recommended free piano lessons offered online will begin with the basics so you will have a strong understanding of your instrument and become familiar with the layout of keys, position of notes, foot pedals, and even some aspects of how a piano works. Knowledge and familiarity will remove intimidation, improve your confidence, and help you achieve your desired results.

4. Theory. Once you have learned proper posture and fingering, and become familiar with the keyboard, the next step is to begin theory lessons so you can understand the fundamentals necessary for transforming a sheet of notes into beautiful, awe-inspiring music. Lessons will begin with basic foundations and build on concepts until you are able to read music and play even the most complex compositions.

5. Musicality and Rhythm. With online piano lessons, you will learn to ‘feel’ the music and gain the ability to customize or interpret compositions to give them your style or make them your own. And, most lessons are very flexible, so you can play the music you like, whether it be jazz, classical, contemporary, or blues.

You can use your own computer to take piano lessons online that will make learning to play the keyboard fun, exciting, and affordable.

It’s a pretty bad idea to learn to play piano by watching videos on YouTube. You may be able to play certain songs, but you won’t know any theory or how to read music, which are both CRITICAL for learning any instrument.

It’s fantastic what the World Wide Web has added to our sitting rooms. However there are some bad news that come with it but I do believe the good far and away outweighs the bad. Did you know that you are able to have piano lessons online? You don’t even need to leave your house, you will be able to practice your lessons for as long as you wish or do it as quick as you can, without asking to adjust to your instructor’s schedule.

The net is virtually swarming with beginner’s lessons and a few are even provided free of charge. Numerous websites have piano lessons online that are quite user-friendly and are easy to understand and stick with. These lessons are structured with the beginner piano player in mind. This is the most effective place to start for those who are clueless as to what music pieces. It will likewise be a good source of review for those who already possess a good working knowledge of how to read music.

Almost all lessons offer up training on the basic skills of identifying piano notes on the treble and bass staff (or clef), rhythm, forming piano scales, major and minor piano chords, augmented and diminished chords. Although these are such heavy-sounding terms, they’re all quite easy to grasp and understand. Getting multiple practice sessions on these theories is the best way to check that you learn to pay the right way. Lessons would then elevate to chord progressions, modes for the piano and then to the complex arpeggios. All of these come with online tools which help you see what the chords looks like and how it sounds like as well. You can do all of these at your own pace. Learning online allows you to set the schedule according to your level and your availability.

Studying the lessons diligently will reduce your time in theoretical studies and usher you in to the more advanced lessons. You can work up your skills and go beyond the basic level. Piano lessons online also include lessons on melodies, arrangements, developing an ear to catch chord progressions that will fit absolutely with the music piece. Be a professional as you learn not just to interpret music but to play the piano by ear as well. A combination of these two options is what will make you a great piano player. Don’t pass up on the chance of learning how to play the piano; you’ll be happy you took the opportunity to acquire a skill that so fewer people have taken the time to learn.
