Well… As I say, is just “I wish” at that moment. At that time, my family background did not allow me to do so… Since then, my dream just fades out as time goes.

Answer by surfswimmer420 I’m not a real piano player, but a good way to learn how to play some cool songs and understand the basics of piano is by learning on youtube. Maybe start with a song like clocks or something and type in “Clocks piano tutorial” on youtube. Something like that.

I am looking for some piano pieces to learn. Preferably, something moderately easy but not too easy. And something that is classic but sounds good enough to impress people( I have a concert in my piano class in which I have to play a piece to the class lol). So, any suggestions?

Answer by Paul Green I’ve found that Bach’s toccata and fugue in d minor, while technically an organ piece and just a little cliche, does the trick and really isn’t that difficult if you just ignore the bottom line when it isn’t moving.
Sheets for it are on either imslp or free-scores, i don’t remember which.

Piano lessons are very expensive (at least where i live) and i have little time because of the studies and stuff, but i’m earning money to buy a piano keyboard just because i really want to learn how to play piano, so is it possible for me to learn by practicing, watching tutorials on youtube and eventually reading books or i should rather wait till i have vacations and money earned for lessons? I mean, because i learned how to draw by practicing and drawing for life since i was a kid without ever having lessons, so i tough that maybe for piano it should be possible too.

Answer by pl Yes you just learn by yourself with the internet these days everybody can learn things online and some famous composers probably learned piano even though they were deaf i think…. So it is possible.

Answer by Adrienne Carrasco I’ve been playing guitar for 5 years now, self taught, I’ve recently took some classes at school to improve and learn some new stuff. One of my assignments was to play and sing at the same time, I may not be a great singer but it is still useful to know how to do. Anyways the way I was taught how to do this was to slow down the song, the speed in which you slow it down is all up to you. Just keep changing the tempo till you feel comfortable doing both, but you don’t want to play to slow that it is impossible to sing along to. Practice slow at first and work your way up, just like when you are learning a new song.
I know I was talking about guitar but I also play piano a bit, and the same thing applies to both. You just have to practice.

Answer by Donna C If you can listen to a music note and KNOW which piano key it is with very little or no guessing, then you should be able to learn to play by ear. If you can not “hear” which key it is without seeing it written, then you need to practice. Get ahold of some piano recordings of different tempo pieces. Start with the slower ones first. Listen to the notes, identify them and then try to play them. If you still have a piano teacher, ask him or her to make some recordings for you; or, if you have two pianos in the lesson room, ask him/her to play a note and have you identify and play it back. Once you have accomplished this then move on to series of notes.
I learned sightreading in choir. The technique above is how I was taught by my teacher to sing by ear. I can sing along with most songs before the song has finished the first time through and can definitely sing along with it the second time through if the words are written. Takes a few times to memorize it if the words are not written down.
