Question by jellyfishR2hot4U: What is the best piano book for teaching a young beginner?
I am to start teaching a second grader piano. I am new to teaching, but I have had nine years of piano lessons. I also play with a band and have taught myself guitar. What would be the best book to help myself teach and help her learn?

I absolutely love the Kenneth Baker ‘complete piano’ books.
They were published in the 80s, I believe 1984, so they can be difficult to get hold of. I recommend checking local charity shops, ebay and amazon.

Taught myself how to play piano during my teens using his books & occasionally refer back to them when teaching someone else how to play.

SHEET MUSIC LINK BELOW!!!!!!!!!!! (REMEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE) Rocket-Piano.org – Tutorial Website! Viva La Vida-Colplay (played by EAR) For some reason you can’t access the sheet music unless you subscribe to my videos, it’s pretty weird. But I guess you have to subscribe for it to work. I made the sheet music myself using finale notepad. So don’t ask where I got this or you might get the triple dot (…) Sheet Music for Word- https Sheet music for finale notepad- www.adrive.com Sheet music for Microsoft document imaging-www.adrive.com IF THE SHEET MUSIC DOESN’T WORK- Send me your email and tell me what sheet music you want and I will attach the file I have on my hard drive. The last line of the sheet music might seem a little different, it is a joke. If you have to ask about it, you obviously don’t get jokes. Yes, people ask me if I “accidentally” put that on there, or if that’s really in the song. This is a instructional video on how to play viva la vida by Coldplay. I am better at playing than teaching so it might be hard to learn. If I am going to fast, then you probably shouldn’t be learning this song.

Play Piano Online – How You Can Get Started With Beginner Piano Lessons

play piano No Comments »

Beginner piano lessons can be a topic discussed somewhere along the way when we have obtained an interest in the piano. Inspiration could come from watching an individual playing a wonderful song on the piano. Also, it could be a chosen instrument and an aspiration for making music. There could be an infinite number of other reasons, and this puts us now in a place where getting started becomes the question.

One of the first things that we need to do is to choose a piano. The choices are numerous and it may be difficult to choose. Three primary types of pianos make up the majority. Electronic, vertical, and grand pianos.

Verticals has more of an upright look to them and are often placed near a wall. Grand pianos has a wing type shape to them and are generally placed in a spacious area. The electronic keyboards generally do not take up alot of space and just about any location works well. They will generally include a great deal of nifty features.

Next is the size, and number of keys. In general, the larger the size is the more natural and higher quality sound the piano may be able to create. With that said however, many other factors exist that can contribute to this. This includes the company that created it among other things. 88 keys is the standard amount. A piano with additional keys or less than the normal may need a little adjustment. When starting out, it is recommended to get accustomed to using an 88 key piano.

Lastly is pricing. In order of most expensive to least is the grand, vertical, and electronic. The electronic piano is a solid choice for getting started as it won’t require a large financial investment. For longer term ventures a grand or vertical piano may be the choice there.

After a piano is chosen, we actually need to learn to play it. This is the part where easy piano lessons are recommended. Some of the popular options are online courses, music schools and private piano teachers that can provide the necessary education to learn how to play the piano.

Although we may be able to experiment and try to figure things out by trial and error, it is not recommended. There are musical notes, theory, chords, and many other things to learn. Teachers and schools in the area can be considered. For individuals who prefer to get things done when they feel like, a low cost and solid choice may be a course to play piano online. For many people, this can be a reasonable option due to the convenience of doing the course and lessons at a pace and schedule you feel comfortable with.

Once the lessons are being absorbed, this is the point where we are moving forward and have successfully started to learn the piano.

Is there a piano book that is similar to Hanon that is useful for beginner piano players?

piano No Comments »

Question by Jules4: Is there a piano book that is similar to Hanon that is useful for beginner piano players?
I am interested in this book specifically, Virtuoso Pianist in 60 Exercises – Complete: Piano Technique by C.L. Hanon. However, it’s specifically for intermediate to advance players and I would be starting from scratch with no previous experience. Is there an elementary or fundamental version of this book for people with little to no experience? (one year or nothing) Any ideas?
Or just something really close to it by Hanon or someone else for newbies? Thanks!

Answer by shirleykins
Yes, there actually is a “baby Hanon” book, I think it’s published by Alfred. But, honestly, you can do the real thing if you’re an adult. All the Hanon exercises are just a one or two measure pattern repeated up and down the piano. An adult is willing to do this without cute pictures and stuff.
